  5. A fish will fly out right at you (possibly over you) and collect it in your inventory.

Cool and Important information on fishing:

  • Reeling out your line on a monster, it sticks on it. (does not hurt it though)
  • Reeling your line out on a animal (does not hurt it) Also it is good sheer sheep with because it does not hurt the sheep.
  • Reeling your line on door opens the door.
  • Reeling your line on a pressure plate activates the pressure plate.

Helpful fishing tip:

Build a dirt wall behind you while you fish, because then the fish will not fly way out back into the water or way out into the land.

Some important information about the Nethers that can be helpful is:

Halloween update: Portal to the Nethers (how to make + more)

To make a portal to the underworld you will need:
  1.          18 obsidian (to make portal frame)
  2.           Flint and steel (to make fire)

Here is how you make the portal:
 “O” stands for – obsidian
“F” stands for – fire (put fire in the places with “F”)

Another way to save four pieces of obsidian when you build your portal is to not put the obsidian in the corners; the portal will still turn purple after the fire. If I were you I would put dirt in the corners for the time being, this will enable you to put the obsidian. Then when you finish your frame you can destroy the dirt. This is what some players will do to save four obsidian.

After that, in the portal a purple color takes over inside the frame. That is how you enter. To enter you jump on to the obsidian and stand in the purple for a few seconds, then your screen becomes swirly purple color and you get loaded into the Nethers. The Nethers is basically an underworld. The Nethers consists of two new blocks and two new monsters. Be careful though, the monsters are tough!

Halloween Update: Jack-O-Lanterns

So far I found after the Halloween update I found a jack-o-lantern. You can put a torch in your jack-o-lantern which lights the area up 5x5 spaces all around it. It also does not run out of light. If you want your jack-o-lantern to make light you do this; on the crafting table you will put the jack-o-lantern above the torch like this.

Intro to Minecraft

In Minecraft you are stranded in the middle of nowhere by yourself. You have to survive by crafting tools and exploring your surroundings. You have to hurry every morning to do as much work as you can because when night falls monsters start to spawn.

Tips:

Ø                     A good way to find diamond and iron (most valuable resources) is to dig a 1x1        hole to bedrock. (bottom of map) You will need these resources:
1.     About 37 ladders (made out of sticks)
2.     About 2 shovels
3.     About 4-5 stone pick axes
4.     About 10 torches for light (minimum)

Ø            A good way to catch monsters is making a monster trap which usually includes a hole (4 to 6 spaces dug down) filled with water that will lead a monster into a trap of cactuses, lava, or a watery death of drowning them. When the monster dies the items fall into the water stream of flowing water to bring their character the treasures that they have earned.

Ø                Building a base by digging into a side of a mountain or hill is always good because when you dig the place out you get resources some being very valuable, on the other side houses look nicer and could be used as better look outs in the middle of open areas, the homes are usually built with planks.

Ø  Stay organized, many times players will not be happy with the map they created because it is much unorganized which causes them to die from monsters around there homes, and not be able to find items. Some good tips to stay organized is:

1.                         Build rooms such as storage rooms filled with chests and cooking/smelting rooms.
2.     Don’t cramp everything in your cave/home be sure to keep a wide open space that is organized with the same kind of block as the floor, and all of the same kind of blocks as the walls.

Ø                      Be sure when you explore at night to always bring cooked pork with you to regain health from monsters, also always bring a sword and make some a leather plate body because creepers will not be enabled to kill you in one hit.

Ø                         Steer clear of creepers during the day time because creepers are different than most monsters the sun does not kill them, they will roam around in the day time and will be able to blow you up. Same goes with giant spiders but in day time they do not attack you unless you attack them first.

Ø                           Look for caves many time caves are rich with gold, iron, and coal.

Another tip that can be very helpful is to make infinite water or lava sources when you need them. This helps because then you do not need to walk as far to get your water and lava.
  1. .     Get a bucket
  2.    Dig a 2x2 hole in the ground (1 deep)
  3.       Fill bucket with water or lava
  4.     Put the water in one of the corners
  5.      Get another bucket full of water or lava and put it in the opposite corner from the other start point of water or lava that you put down before
  6.      When you see that the water and lava stopped flowing, you know that you have an unlimited resource of water or lava.
